ABOUT THE AUTHOR
A lifetime poetic odyssey
Ronald Jirovec was born in Merrill, Wisconsin, and graduated from UW Stevens Point. His gift for rhyming emerged in the 1980s, leading to three volumes of poetry that blend scriptural wisdom, spiritual ascent, and the beauty of creation, from Yosemite’s High Country to the hope of eternity.
"I write because silence has weight, and words are how I learn to carry it." “I feel that my writing shall be an adventurous lifetime odyssey. Come with me now to step into a world of knowledge, go beyond wisdom with insight.”

Three collections of a lifetime
Three volumes. One poetic odyssey. Volume I introduces the climb: scriptural wisdom, deadly sins, and the first trek toward the High Country. Volume II unravels the great fall (“Woe the Dragon”) and deepens the journey with Latin mottos and personal wilderness years. Volume III ascends to reflection, spiritual warfare, and the gift of poetry itself.
Poems for Praise, Comfort, and Joy: Volume I
The journey begins. From “Ode of a Lass – Reaching for a Dream” to “Half Dome Attained,” this first volume introduces the poet’s odyssey of faith. Trek the Mist Trail as an allegory, confront deadly sins, and find hope in the afterlife. With rhymes that instruct and comfort, these poems call readers to higher ground.
“The Lord has given me a special gift. My life will not purposelessly drift.”
Poems for Praise, Comfort, and Joy: Volume II
The mystery deepens. Volume II opens with “Woe the Dragon” and its long-awaited answer, “The Enigma Solved,” explaining how one third of heaven fell. Journey through mythological metaphors (Medusa, Antaeus, the Stygian witches), wrestle with philosophical introspection, and walk the wilderness years of waiting. With fifty Latin phrases newly meditated, this volume sharpens discernment and prepares the soul for battle.
The nectar of truth’s fruit I must distill.
Poems for Praise, Comfort, and Joy: Volume III
The summit draws near. Volume III returns to the High Country, looking down from the Sierra, heading up the San Luis Obispo way, and making the inevitable return to Half Dome. Here you’ll find elegies for the brave (Cassie Bernall), reflections on the gift of poetry itself, and a final ascent into spiritual warfare. The odyssey concludes not with an ending, but with a promise: “I shall ever be the Lord’s poet in the world.”
